A collection is a logical arrangement of resources that by default, is private to the user that creates the given collection. A resource can live in any number of collections as collections are unique for each user.
Because collections are purely logical arrangements, a resource that is part of multiple collections is only referred to in each of those collections - not actually copied or duplicated there.
Along with grouping resources based on an individual user's needs, collections also provide a mechanism for actions such as sharing and bulk metadata editing.
You can get started by creating collections.
